The challenge
The plant's lead paint shop technician was retiring. For decades, he had kept an antiquated electrostatic painting system running, and he knew all of its quirks.
The Maintenance Supervisor faced a hard question: could a new hire ever learn that system? Training a replacement would take months, and keeping that person long enough to master it was a real risk. The plant needed equipment a new technician could learn quickly and run reliably.
The AISECO solution
The Maintenance Supervisor turned to AISECO to replace the old system without disrupting production. AISECO partnered with a major electrostatic spray gun manufacturer to design and install a modern system:
- A modern, lighter electrostatic spray gun that is easier to handle over a full shift.
- A modern paint mixing system with a simple graphical touchscreen interface in place of manual adjustments.
The result
The plant replaced equipment that depended on one person's experience with a system any trained technician can operate.
Onboarding a new painter is now simpler, and the operation no longer hinges on tribal knowledge that walks out the door at retirement.
Why it matters
Many manufacturers face the same risk as experienced operators retire. Modern, easy-to-run finishing equipment protects production and makes new hires productive faster.
